Tallinn Town Hall

NB! Open seasonally 25.06-31.08 Mon-Thu 11-18; Fri-Sun 11-16.

Tallinn Town Hall is the oldest city hall in North-Europe. In 2022, Tallinn Town Hall celebrated the 700th anniversary of its first mention in 1322. The story of the building dates back to the 13th century and it was completed, in its current form, in 1404.

The magnificent Gothic arches, the unique wood carvings, tapestry, and paintings reflect the wealth and ideals of the former Hanseatic town. The works of art in the Town Hall were also an example of fair judgement for the aldermen because until the 13th-19th century the Town Hall was a courthouse.

From the outside it is a massive building, rather plain. The tall and slender tower makes it a bit more interesting. It is not open to visitors in winter, I don't understand why... Read more comments
