Church of St Simeon and the Prophetess Hannah

The Church of St Simeon and the female prophet Hannah is an Orthodox church in Tallinn, which was built closer to the harbor by the initiative of Russian mariners during the years 1752-1755. It is the fourth orthodox church built in the suburb after the Great Northern War. As the coastline was much closer to the city back then, the church was built almost to the waterline. A lot of soil filling was used as the foundation, another legend says that wrecks of the sunken ships were used for the filling. The museum of church textiles is open from Wednesday to Friday from 11:00 to 17:00, on Saturdays from 12:00 to 14:00 and on Sundays from 11:00 to 15:00. Entry is free of charge. You can enter the bell tower through the front hall and shop of the church.

Came across this beautiful wooden church while walking to the supermarket but it was a pity it was closed. Apparently it was constructed by Russian sailors over 200 years ago.

We came by this small Orthodox church on our way to the port. It may be small but certainly rich inside.
