The restaurant is named after the Danish king Valdemar II, who is supposed to have camped nearby when he conquered Toompea in the 13th century.

As the name suggests, the restaurant serves Danish cuisine with a special focus on seafood. The menu also includes smørrebrøds, sandwiches favoured by the Danes.

When the weather is nice, you can sit on the restaurant’s cosy terrace and enjoy the view of the Danish King’s Garden next door, where according to a popular legend, the Danish state flag, the Dannebrog, fell from the sky and secured Valdemar II a hard-won victory.

Before climbing down from the upper part of the old town to the lower part. The monk sculptures are not old but a nice touch to the wall between upper and lower towns. There are several worthwhile... Read more
