Kuberneri Garden

“The Governor’s Garden,” also known as the Castle Garden, was probably designed in its original form around 1773, when the former Toompea fortress was reconstructed into the seat of the Governorate of Estonia. In the 1820s, in connection with the partial demolition of the fortifications surrounding the castle, it was redesigned as a formal-style ornamental garden open to the public. In the 19th century, the Governor’s Garden formed a unified green area together with the garden located in front of the castle, which has since been eliminated.
