    Paljassaare Special Conservation Area

Paljassaare peninsula is the best places for birdwatching in Tallinn: 223 bird species, 85 of which are protected, have been seen here. For decades, Paljassaare it was a military zone closed to the public, but was converted into a conservation area in 2005. Leisure facilities include a sandy beach, great for summer activities, Katariina quay, a pier stretching 300 metres into the sea, where you get picture perfect views of the city skyline, and two birdwatching towers.
