Description:
The tour will start at the Maiden Tower (Neitsitorn). Depending on the weather we then walk through the Garden and around the wall to the Kiek in de Kök artillery tower, or use the access along the wall-walk. After visiting Kiek in de Kök, we walk along the wall-walk, with its magnificent views, to the Old Town and learn about who has historically lived or set up shop there in this somewhat shady corner against the wall. We then come back to Maiden Tower, where we learn about the history and famous people who have lived here over many centuries. From Maiden Tower we continue along the wall-walk to the Marstall, aka Stable Tower (Tallitorn), once an infamous prison, and then on to the Short Leg Gate Tower (Lühikese jala väravatorn), a symbol of two cities, Reval and Dome city, that never got along, now best known by its countless ghost legends. We return using the wall-walk and climb down through Tallitorn to the Danish King’s Garden. Please note: as the steps in the Tallitorn are extreme and the stairwell narrow and winding, there is an option to leave through the Maiden Tower. Please let the guide know if you have difficulties with steep steps. The tour will take about an hour to an hour and half depending on how fast we move.
