Bastion passages in the Tallinn Old Town

Built in the 1670s during the time of Swedish rule, this system of defence tunnels that runs underneath the edge of Toompea Hill has a fascinating history, including use as a World War II bomb shelter. On the tunnel tour, guests are introduced to the various stages of the tunnels' past and can view sections of tunnel that still retain their more Medieval look. Entrance and group tour bookings are made via the Kiek in de Kök tower/museum, which can also be visited as part of the package.
