    Viimsi St. James' Church

    The modern architecture of this coastal church makes it well suited to the surrounding seaside landscape.

    Dedicated to people lost at sea, the church was completed in 2003 is the only Lutheran church built in Estonia after World War II. Although they designed it to be modern, architects Martin Aunin and Erkki Ristoja followed all the canons of classical sacral building during the project. The 13-metre, concrete bell tower houses a 600-tonne bell named Memento Mori (Don't Forget Death) and a 200-tonne bell named Memento Vivere (Remember - You Must Live).
