Museum of Photography
The Photo Museum is located behind Tallinn Town Hall, in an intriguing medieval prison building that now serves as a museum and gallery. In addition to interesting photo exhibitions, one can see ancient wooden and iron photographic equipment and historical pictures.
The permanent exhibition showcases a collective portrait of Estonian photographers – from the mid-19th century to the present day. The museum actively invites visitors to participate and experiment. You can try a real darkroom for practicing analog photography and take part in workshops, courses, lectures, and family days. You can also learn fascinating forgotten photo techniques, such as pinhole photography and cyanotype.
The Photo Museum also preserves an impressive collection of historical photographs.
Every year, the Photo Museum's exhibitions focus on a specific theme, providing a reason to return and discover photography and its history from a new perspective.
