XXVIII Song Celebration and XXI Dance Celebration

Every five years, the national festival brings together thousands of folk dancers and tens of thousands of choir singers from all over Estonia to Tallinn. The dance celebration, held at Kalev Stadium, visually and musically combines the traditions of Estonian folk music and folk dance into a single unit. The Tallinn Song Festival Grounds hosts a two-day song celebration featuring beloved choir tunes and works inspired by Estonian folk music.

The song and dance festival, included on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage, is the most significant and populous cultural event in Estonia. The tradition of the song festival in Estonia dates back to 1869 and is one of the most important carriers of Estonian sovereignty and identity.
