Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom

Add to Favourites Your favourite!

This modern museum is dedicated to the period when Estonia was occupied briefly by the Germans, then for decades by the USSR. Vabamu focuses on personal narratives about crimes against humanity to help us better appreciate justice and freedom.

The permanent exhibition ‘Freedom Without Borders’, which speaks of occupation, resistance, freedom, and recovery consists of five parts: crimes against humanity, Estonians in the free world, life in Soviet Estonia, the restoration of independence, and freedom.

En route through the museum, the visitor is accompanied by an e-tour guide specially designed for our permanent exhibition, which guides the visitor on a gripping and contemplative journey through the paths of recent history.

The museum offers e-tour guides in seven languages (Estonian, Russian, English, Finnish, German, French, Spanish) and has a special exhibition for children.
