Five reasons why autumn is awesome

Add to Favourites Your favourite!

The summer is gone, but no need to cry. Autumn is great and filled with the coolest and prettiest and cosiest things you can imagine. Especially in Tallinn. See our list of the five reasons why autumn is actually the best season of the year!

1. Sweaters

After spending the last few months in flip-flops and sweating the cheese out of you, it’s finally cold enough to wear your comfy, soft and warm sweater! Pair it with your favourite boots and wear it over your romantic summer-dress or jeans. Tallinn is like the promised land of sweaters, we even sell them on the streets! Where else can you find your new favourite autumn garment from a street vendor? You can also check the autumn collections from local stores. You’ll most likely find an amazing new sweater to wear on your Tallinn vacation.

2. Dawn and dusk

The sun rises later and sets earlier, which gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy magnificent colours on the crisp autumn sky. The best views for sunrises are definitely from the viewing platforms in Toompea. To catch and capture beautiful sunsets, go for a walk down the Pirita promenade or enjoy dinner at one of the highrises in the centre of Tallinn.

3. Hot beverages

So, it may rain and it may be cold because it’s autumn. Lucky for you, you have your comfy sweater on! And of course, a hot drink at the range of your hand 24/7. Time to load up on Earl Grey, Oolong, Sencha and Darjeeling! But leave your tea packs behind when you come to Tallinn. We have the prettiest cafés where you can enjoy a hot beverage!

4. Books and movies

Summer is beautiful and you have to enjoy every minute of it while it lasts. The autumn gives you time to rest. Read the bestseller you have wanted to so long and catch the new Oscar favourites at the cinema. Bookaholics will find the perfect coffee table books and novels from the high-quality bookshops in Tallinn (one of them is among the best bookshops of the world!). For cinema buffs, we have IMAX, Scape, 3D, 2D, Hollywood, European... all kinds of movies and cinemas. Also one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe: PÖFF.

5. Christmas music

The right to start listening to Christmas music and dreaming about the Christmas Market (voted best in Europe in 2019!) and all the small cottages covered with snow around the grand Christmas tree at the Town Hall Square. Just go ahead and start to listen to it already! We won’t judge you.
