Eat, pray and love with Tallinn

February, the month of love and friendship is here and winter is very slowly, but steadily giving in to spring. We can already feel the sun softly shining and warming the tips of our noses.

Before you know it, Estonians will start to host garden parties, barbeque and sunbathe, though the ground may be still a bit icy. It may seem odd, but that just shows how much we love the spring, warmth and sun!

Spring is the time of awakenings and new beginnings. It makes us more open to new feelings and experiences. Make use of the most romantic month of the year and reconnect with not only your significant other but also with yourself.

Whether you are married, fallen madly in love, recently divorced or enjoying the single life, no matter what your status is, you can always gain balance, happiness and joy by eating, praying and loving (in and) together with Tallinn.

Good food is one of the simplest joys in life. Start to wake up your taste buds from their coma, and offer them some new experiences! Eat with no rush, and give yourself time to taste every little detail the food has to offer. Tallinn restaurants offer excellent culinary experiences (and desserts!) with affordable prices. The spectre is wide – you can actually eat your way through the world in Tallinn. Take yourself on a culinary journey and allow yourself to enjoy all the different tastes.

Quiet moments are rare and precious. There is no rush, you have time for your own thoughts and needs. Clean up your personal attic, make room for spirituality and serenity. Nature offers majestic surroundings for meditation and soul-searching. Let go of the strain and find inner peace in one of the greenest capitals in the world. Hug a tree (it’s popular in Estonia), do yoga, go for a walk or just sit in a park, let go of everything that holds you back and breathe in positive new life with every inhale. Do not be afraid to take deep breaths because according to the WHO, Tallinn is among the top ten capital cities with the cleanest air in the world.

Estonians like to quote one of their national treasures, writer, Anton Hansen Tammsaare “Tee tööd ja näe vaeva, siis tuleb ka armastus“ (Work hard and love will follow). This might be the case with some people, but usually, it doesn’t really work that well. Learn to take it easy, reconnect with your body and mind (eat and pray), and love will follow.
