Estonian Theatre and Music Museum (reopens in March 2026)
The Theatre and Music Museum is located in Tallinn’s Old Town, in the Assauwe Tower, which is over 600 years old and was once part of the city wall. The museum was founded to preserve the legacy of composer Peeter Süda and has, over the decades, grown into a guardian of Estonia’s theatre and music heritage.
The museum’s rich archive reflects the work of composers, conductors, actors, and theatres over the years. Through playbills, photographs, and manuscripts, visitors gain an overview of the development of Estonian music and theatre – from the first song festivals to contemporary productions.
The museum is currently undergoing renovation and will reopen in March 2026. Visitors will be welcomed by an exciting family-friendly exhibition “I Want to Play”, which takes them behind the scenes of theatre and music and offers discoveries for all ages.
